Welcome to the first asset pack of the new side collection of Minifantasy: Minifantasy Scifi - Space Derelict!
For the ones of you who are new to the project, Minifantasy is one of the largest top-down fantasy asset collections out there, definitely the largest at 8x8 res! It is perfect for prototyping or making polished games full of character.
Originally released in April 2020, it has been expanded with a new asset pack every month since then.
Minifantasy is a community-driven project, every month the Patreon supporters decide the theme for a new asset pack. For the first time since the creation of the collection, supporters have decided to explore your favourite Sci-Fi tropes through the super low-res prism of Minifantasy!
The best part is that all Minifantasy asset packs are actually compatible. It means that the 30+ fantasy packs previously released can be combined with this one too. Do you need to purge a planet covered by jungle from those nasty swarm aliens? Minifantasy - Lost Jungle can do the job!

Welcome to Minifantasy Scifi - Space Derelict, a very complete asset pack that contains all you need to create dungeon-like abandoned spaceships infested by Swarm Aliens.
The pack also contains fully animated Space Warriors and Planetside Troopers. These brave soldiers have the difficult mission of securing the derelict to recover an important relic, will they prevail?
What does this asset pack include?
The asset pack includes a premade sample ready to use! Layered in Aseprite (separate layers also available in .png) It will not only let you use the assets right out of the box but also help you to understand how to use the assets to build your own awesome creations!

Minifantasy is a community-driven project, so I don’t really decide myself what the next asset pack (or Patreon exclusive content) will be about.
The way it works is:
For example, last month the community voted for Patreon exclusive content related to this asset pack, damaged walls https://www.patreon.com/posts/exclusive-walls-98465942
That said, so far the community has decided that the collection focuses more on fantasy themes. But the option for having more of this type of content is always open :)
Like all your assets these look amazing, but can they actually be used commercially? It's extremely obvious they are based on Warhammer 40k and Space Marines, Imperial Guard and Genestealers to the point Games Workshop could argue they are copied, and GW tends to take their IPs very seriously.

Thanks for reaching out, I totally understand your concerns. From what I understand, you should be ok as long as you don't include any trademarks, registered names, or places in your game, or mislead anyone into thinking your game is an official product of a specific franchise.
The asset pack is inspired by dark sci-fi, and reflects the pop culture interpretation of this genre's tropes, but in the characteristic artistic style of Minifantasy.
Given that your intention is to craft your own story set in your own universe, I believe you shouldn't encounter any issues. But remember, I'm not a lawyer and my knowledge doesn't cover all the legal aspects from every country. If you think that your project might raise questions or concerns, it's always a good idea to get some professional advice to make sure you're on the safe side.

Hi, I bought this today, but I'm getting a bunch of errors that files are corrupt. For example, SpaceWarriorDieShadow.png, SpaceSargentDieShadow.png, and most of the GIFs.

Did you try to remove the folder from your machine and unzip it again? If that doesn't work, try to download the zip again from Itch.
I have just downloaded it myself and I'm not getting any errors, so I think it was probably a file extraction or download issue.

I tried the zip version and everything worked fine in there. The rar ones still had the problem when I retried everything. I'm all set now though. Thanks for responding!

I could hand you the aseprite files if you want, but I have to tell you that you will hardly see any differences with the png files as they are basically identical. I work directly in the sprite sheets as you see in the pngs, so if you are looking for an aseprite file with all the character animations separated by different tags, unfortunately I don't have it.
